Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT) is a free artificial intelligence (AI) tool and chatbot that can generate human-like, conversational responses to prompts, from writing a tweet in the voice of a celebrity or a college essay. ChatGPT quickly raised academic concerns about academic integrity, plagiarism, and research, to name a few. How might academic librarians address concerns from ChatGPT? What opportunities exist for librarians to work with this technology to teach information literacy?
Emily Zerrenner, Research and Instructional Services Librarian at Research at Salisbury University, and Allison Papini, Assistant Director and Manager of Research & Instruction Services at Bryant University, will share their exploration of and responses to ChatGPT. A Q&A will follow their presentations.
