Curriculum Materials Centers Interest Group (CMCIG)

Purpose:  To provide opportunity at a statewide level for CMCs personnel to meet and exchange information.


·       To address mutual issues or problems related to Curriculum Materials Centers that can be discussed in a group setting for the purpose of       generating ideas and solutions.

·       To share ideas and information regarding Curriculum Materials Centers by sponsoring or co-sponsoring programs and workshops.

·       To provide opportunity for networking between CMCs through the publication of a directory of Curriculum Materials Centers.

·       To promote the interests of CMCs and CMC personnel through contributions to the ALAO Newsletter.

·       To support continued professional development of CMCs personnel to insure high standards of service to education programs in the state (Ohio).

Objectives:  To be determined annually by the Interest Group chair(s) in consultation with its members.

Membership:  The Interest Group will consist of ALAO members who have expressed an interest in curriculum materials. The Chair will be elected each spring from the membership.

ALAO Annual Conference Information:


The ALAO Annual Conference is on Friday, November 2. Join your CMC and OELMA colleagues at a roundtable discussion from 1:30-2:00.


The Curriculum Materials Center Interest Group (CMCIG) provides opportunities at a statewide level for curriculum materials center personnel to meet and exchange information. We also partner with the Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA) to share ideas and to help connect the work of CMC personnel with the needs of future educators.

Join CMCIG during the Roundtables session to get acquainted with colleagues and meet OELMA representatives. Discussion will center on how we can work together to create information literate patrons.

ALAO Curriculum Materials Centers Interest Group VIRTUAL Spring Workshop: Igniting Excitement about Reading and Content Literacy Among Future Teachers

Thursday, June 28th from 1:00pm-2:15pm

Librarian J. Joseph Prince, Curriculum & Outreach Educator at Bowling Green State University’s Curriculum Resource Center will present dynamic strategies to engage pre-service teachers with Curriculum Materials  Centers. Joe has a diverse and extensive background as a middle school English teacher and a school librarian. He will share his outreach efforts to education majors this past year which include varied curricular and co-curricular experiences with the end goal of getting future teachers excited about reading books for children. The session will last approximately one hour. Joe will present for approximately 40 minutes with 20 minutes for Q&A.

It is not necessary to have a gmail account. Just follow the directions below to join and participate in discussions. The CMCIG chair will approve requests to join.
