ALAO TEDSIG Committee

  • The primary responsibility of the ALAO TEDSIG Committee is to increase opportunities for technical services librarians and staff to participate in ALAO. This will be accomplished through the delivery of member services such as program planning for the Spring Workshop and the Annual Conference, through the distribution of information of interest to technical services librarians and staff, and in other ways.
  • This Committee will be comprised of the 2 Co-Chairs and any interested parties.
  • The two Co-chairs will be appointed by members of the Committee to two year terms, commencing in alternate years so that there is an overlap in leadership. TEDSIG Co-Chairs do not have to have previously served as Committee Members, but it is recommended.
  • Members of the TEDSIG Committee will serve one year terms running one ALAO Leadership Retreat in June to the next. Initially the terms will run from the day we call for volunteers until June 2007. If the Committee member does not contact one of the Co-Chairs to specifically resign from the Committee it will be assumed that they wish to remain active for another year.
  • Members will be expected to attend at least one meeting per year.  Meetings are held during the annual conference and the Spring Meeting/Workshop.  Ad hoc meetings may be called at the discretion of the Co-Chairs to plan events or discuss topics of interest.  All other communication will take place electronically.
  • One committee member will focus their activities on growing the ALAO TEDSIG membership.

Discussion List

Posted February 13, 2007

TSLIBRARIANS@KENT.EDU
LISTOWNER: Margaret Maurer, Cataloging Manager, KSU

Instead of developing yet another discussion list, TEDSIG has adopted the existing TSLibrarians list as our official discussion list. Please see the description below for further information.

DESCRIPTION: Technical services librarians and catalogers discuss Ohio library issues.

PURPOSE OF THE LIST: To provide a forum for discussions on cataloging and technical services issues. Technical services librarians need a place to ask questions - a place where they are confident of getting good responses from their colleagues. All types of technical services questions are welcome including (but not limited to) acquisitions, cataloging, physical processing, authority control, vendor relations, outsourcing, serials, etc. All types of technical services librarians are welcome -- the list has a secondary purpose to promote communication between different types of technical services librarians in Ohio, whether they work in public, school, academic or special libraries. Please stick around even if you don't live in Ohio!
