- Announcements.
- Spring Workshops will be April 18, 2002 at MOLO in New Philadelphia and April 19, 2002 at Bowling Green State University
- Gaynelle Predmore, current SSIG Chair, extended her thanks to Kelly Shook incoming Chair Elect of SSIG, Mary Ayres former Chair Elect of SSIG, Michael Ludle for his work on the poster session at the ALAO Annual Conference 2001, Chris Hopkins and Dean Haricombe for hosting the SSIG Spring Workshops in 2002 and The SSIG Program Planning Committee for 2001/2002.
- Committee Updates.
- Program Planning Committee.
The Program Planning Committee's next meeting will be Friday, November 30, 2001 at MOLO, one of the sites hosting the 2002 SSIG workshop.
- Issues and Concerns Committee
Kelly Shook, chair of the committee, asked for volunteers to serve on the committee. This committee will study issues and solutions that affect library support staff.
- Support Staff Award Committee
Kelly Shook, chair of the committee, asked for volunteers to serve on the committee. This committee will investigate the possibility of establishing a state-wide support staff award. This group will need to establish qualifications, standards and what the award will entail.
- Web Subcommittee
SSIG website is being developed and will be available in the near future.
- Old Business.
- Goals and Objectives (see attachment).
Changes proposed to Organizational Structure, page 2, Points 1,2 and 3. Doug Morrison made a motion to pass the changes. Michael Ludle seconded the motion. Changes passed.
- SSIG Listserv
- Doug Morrison is the list moderator.
- Currently there are 82 members on the listserv.
- New Business
- Support Staff Presenter Grants
- Michael Ludle asked for input in regards to the criteria and/or guidelines that need to be established for the Support Staff Presenter Grants that will be awarded to 2-3 support staff so they can present at next year's ALAO Annual Conference.
- Nominations for Secretary/Chair Elect 2002-2003
- Michael Ludle was nominated and accepted the nomination.
- Someone asked if we could establish criteria for what it takes to be a Secretary/Chair Elect of SSIG. We could then post the information on the website.
- O.S.S.I
Doug Morrison is part of the Ohio Support Staff Institute Committee that is planning a 3 1/2 Day Institute for non-MLS support staff members from all types of libraries in Ohio. The dates for this institute would be August 4, 2002 - August 7, 2002. 50 people could attend this institute and each attendee's institution would be charged a conference fee. The O.S.S.I Planning Committee is in the process of applying for a LSTA grant for $15,000.00 to help defray the costs of the institute
