ALAO SSIG
Annual Business Meeting Minutes
November 2, 2000

  1. Mary Ayres, Southern State, called the meeting to order and welcomed the participants of the Pre-Conference. She also recognized and thanked the members of the SSIG Program Planning Committee for their efforts in planning the Pre-Conference.
  2. Committee Reports:
    1. Goals & Objectives Committee
      Martha Kluth, University of Akron, reported on the committee and mentioned that a copy of the 2000-2001 Purpose, Goals & Objectives should be found in attendees folders.
    2. Support Staff Issues & Solutions Committee
      Gaynelle Predmore, Bowling Green State University, reported that this is a newly formed committee that was seeking volunteer members from across the state. Participation would probably be via e-mail.
  3. Nominations for Secretary/Chair-Elect:
    Mary explained the procedure for electing officers of SSIG. She called for nominations for the position of Secretary/Chair-Elect of SSIG. No nominations were received so it was left open that self-nomination would be accepted. The election will be held at the SSIG Annual Spring Workshops. [Note: Self-nominations were received at the Annual Conference from Michael Ludle of Methodist Theological Seminary of Ohio [MTSO], Kelly Sikora from Kent State University, & Brian Hickam of The Ohio State University (OSU)-Mansfield.]
  4. Spring Workshops 2001:
    Mary announced that the SSIG Spring Workshops would be held April 5 at Kent State University and April 6 at Southern State South Campus. Keynote speaker is to be Linda Dobb, Executive Vice President, Bowling Green State University and former Dean of BGSU Libraries & Learning Resources.
  5. ALAO Presidents Report:
    Carolyn Radcliff, Kent State University, welcomed attendees to Pre-Conference. She reported on the history of ALAO and encouraged membership. She also mentioned that each institution affiliated with ALAO has and Institutional Liaison. She pointed out ALAO display housed at the entrance to the room where this meeting was being held.
  6. ALAO Program Planning Committee:
    Gail Richmond, Bowling Green State University, pointed out the purple handout in folders for Choosing a Conference Location and asked that anyone who had suggestions to fill this form out and leave on table in back of room today. She also pointed out the pink form, Get Involved in ALAO, that was in 2-parts one that could be filled out by pre-conference attendees and one that could be taken and shared with colleagues.
  7. Adjournment:
    Mary called for motion to adjourn the Business Meeting. Doug Morrison, OSU/ATI so moved and Michael Ludle, MTSO, seconded.
