Come and spend the day learning about how to keep pace with rapid changes and trends in Curriculum Materials Centers. Three main topics will be covered, edTPAbasics and how CMC’s can support this teacher candidate assessment process, how to use Pinterest to market CMC’s and library resources, and a lively round table discussion centered around connecting CMC programs and events to your community . The round table will include the discussion of events such as, “A Blind-Date with a Book”, a “ Mock Caldecott Medal Jury”, the use of iPad app’s in instruction, and other topics. Come prepared to share your ideas so we can learn from each other about what works in our CMC’s!
Lunch will be provided by the OSU-Newark Catering Service, and then tour The Works, Newark’s Children Museum. During the tour, learn about how The Works and OSU-Newark’s Educational Learning Center partner with each other.

Cindy Gayer, Director of Teacher Education Services at Cedarville University, will provide an overview of the national Teacher Performance Assessment, its implications for education preparation programs, and the technical support required by candidates.

Leni Anderson (Education Curriculum Center Librarian at OSU-Newark) and Diane Schrecker (Curriculum Librarian from Ashland University) will demonstrate how Pinterest is used to market CMC’s and library resources.

CMCIG Purpose, Goals and Objectives

The purpose of the Curriculum Materials Center Interest Group is to provide opportunity at a statewide level for CMC personnel to meet and exchange information.
The following goals are addressed by the CMCIG:
· To address mutual issues or problems related to Curriculum Materials Centers that can be discussed in a group setting for the purpose of generating ideas and solutions.
· To share ideas and information regarding Curriculum Materials Centers by sponsoring or co-sponsoring programs and workshop.
· To provide opportunity for networking between CMC's through the publication of a directory of Curriculum Materials Centers.
· To promote the interests of CMC and CMC personnel through contributions to the ALAO Newsletter.
· To support continued professional development of CMC personnel to insure high standards of service to education programs in the state (Ohio).
To be determined annually by the Chair of the Interest Group in consultation with Members.
The Interest Group will consist of ALAO members who have expressed an interest in curriculum materials. The Chair will be elected each spring from the Membership.
