Proposals were evaluated on the basis of their interest to Ohio libraries and library staff, their potential to spark ideas for application in local settings, connection to the conference theme, originality, and clarity.
ALAO will provide an MS laptop for your use during your presentation. Your presentation will need to be in an Office 2003 or 2007 format to be usable.
Wired and wireless Internet connections will be available, although the hotel recommends using wired connections for presentations. In addition, you are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to bring some kind of backup should you encounter any difficulties.
ALAO would like to provide a record of your presentation on the conference website. A student volunteer will be around before or after your presentation to collect it, or you can e-mail it to dappleby@uakron.edu. If you would prefer your presentation not be posted on the conference web site, or wish to embargo it until a particular date, please let us know.
Presenters are expected to prepare their own materials and bring enough copies of handouts.
Poster session presenters should bring all materials needed for their displays, including display boards and supplies such as tape, push pins, markers, etc.
Provision of handouts is encouraged, as are business cards and sign-up sheets allowing people to request additional information. Presenters should make copies ahead of time.
Materials presented should be easily read at a distance of four feet. Lettering should be large enough (about 3/8" high) to be easily read. Simplicity and legibility are more important than artistic design, although effective visual design will enhance the display.
Wired and wireless Internet connections will be available, but please bring some kind of backup should you encounter any difficulties. You may bring a laptop; however, we cannot guarantee availability of a nearby power supply or the security of any laptops -- you are responsible for charging your laptop prior to the Poster Session time slot and to keep an eye on it.
