Ohio campuses are treasure troves of knowledge, but valuable resources are often hidden. Imagine being able to save your institution’s scholarly output and learning objects without having to fund the hardware, software and staff necessary to maintain the technical system. The OhioLINK Digital Resource Commons (DRC) provides these benefits and more and is freely available to all OhioLINK member institutions.
At this session on Thursday, October 23, get a tour of the Ohio Digital Resource Commons and learn how your library and institution can rapidly publish the wealth of historic, research and creative materials produced by your campus without technical hassles or budget concerns. Leverage statewide economies of scale by using your files and OhioLINK’s server to create your own site to store, preserve and share unpublished articles, working papers, lectures, learning objects, special collections and more.
There are two parts to this pre-conference event and attendees are welcome to attend one or both. Get a basic overview of the DRC, find out which institutions are already participating, and learn about the latest and future DRC developments from 2:00-2:30 p.m. Attend a hands-on workshop from 2:45-4:00 p.m. and learn how to create your own DRC collection. Both sessions will be led by John Davison, OhioLINK’s Assistant Director of Digital Resource Development.
There is no fee to attend either part of this pre-conference workshop, but registration is required as space is limited. To register, please e-mail candi@ohiolink.edu and state whether you wish to attend the introduction portion, the hands-on portion or both. Attendees will need to bring a wireless-ready laptop to participate in the hands-on session.
