"Positioning for the Future: Being Agile on a Foggy Path"
None of us can predict the future, and no two libraries are looking for it in exactly the same way. How can we stay grounded in core principles while supporting new campus directions for which nobody seems to have a map? We need to think creatively about the fundamental mission of a library and the roles of librarians and other library staff, and to understand what these will mean in higher education in the future. We need to maintain resources and services while constantly expanding our skills and changing our library operations, and to acknowledge that having more change is the only thing that is not going to change. From the perspective of running both a small college library and one at a research university, being an advocate for library services at local and national levels, working with constituencies inside and outside of our profession, Sarah Pritchard will offer insights into how to survive and thrive inthe challenging environment of today and tomorrow.
