Thursday.October 31, 2002. Registration payments will be refunded. The
ALAO Diversity Committee will try to have a workshop or seminar on
diversity in the Spring of 2003.

The nature of this workshop is to ensure that each participant gets involved in defining diversity issues, examining the implications of those issues and suggesting realistic solutions. Participants will the leave the workshop with a heightened awareness of diversity issues. More importantly, participants will be more inclined to adopt a personal commitment to a more respectful and inclusive environment by beginning to think outside of box as it relates to diversity. Furthermore, participants will learn the following:
To move toward the next step of diversity. Participants will take an IQ diversity quiz in order to provoke thought and discussion and not to make anyone feel wrong, bad or ignorant. It is only in discussing these issues that we can begin the process of resolving them
About the Presenter:
Selina A. Griswold has been a professor in The University of Toledo's Business Technology Program for over 13 years. Professor Griswold has received numerous teaching and research awards. She was the founder and Director of the Minority Mentorship Program. This program provided first generation minority and female college students with a professional mentor and the support services necessary for success in their educational careers.
As an educator, Selina leads local, regional and national programs on diversity in the workplace for business and industry. She has developed courses, seminars and workshops addressing this area of study. She is also the author of two books on this subject, Workplace Diversity: A Training Guide for Individuals & Organizations and Managing Diversity in the Workplace: A Practical Approach.
In addition teaching, Selina has spent a number of years providing consulting services to local and regional organizations in the areas of diversity and small business management. Prior to teaching, she was a Financial Analyst at Ford Motor Company, North American Automotive Operations in Dearborn, Michigan. Selina has a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting and Computer Systems from The University of Toledo, a Master's of Science in Management in Accounting and Organizational Behavior from Purdue University, a Master's of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from North Central University and is in the final stages of receiving her Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
